Comparison for auction companies
GoDaddy Website Builder or a managed auction website?
GoDaddy's builders suit an auction company that needs a simple web presence quickly and cheaply and will edit it itself: there is a free Websites + Marketing plan and paid tiers. For a business that lists lots every week, needs registration and settlement pages and wants the site to rank between sales, a managed auction site does more of the work. GoDaddy's product line has also been changing, so check which builder you are actually on.
The short answer
Choose a GoDaddy builder for a quick, low-cost starter site you edit yourself. Choose a managed site when weekly sales need a real catalog.

Which is right for an auction business?
GoDaddy is often where an auction company already bought its domain, which makes its builder the path of least resistance. This page looks at what that builder is designed to do and where an auction calendar outgrows it.
Key takeaway: Choose a GoDaddy builder for a quick, low-cost starter site you edit yourself. Choose a managed site when weekly sales need a real catalog.
Side by side
GoDaddy Website Builder and a managed auction site, line by line
Twelve things an auction company should weigh. Where we state a fact about another product, it is listed with its source further down the page.
| What to weigh | GoDaddy Website Builder | BidWebStudio |
|---|---|---|
| Speed and Core Web Vitals | Depends on the template, sections and any custom code added. GoDaddy hosts the site. | Custom-coded pages served from Cloudflare's edge, with 90+ PageSpeed as the build standard on every plan. |
| SEO control | GoDaddy includes an SEO tool in most Websites + Marketing plans, and notes ranking changes can take weeks. | Done for you: titles, headings, sitemaps, canonicals, redirects, and a page per sale type and per area you serve. |
| Structured data (JSON-LD) | Not verified as a Websites + Marketing feature. | JSON-LD on every page type (Organization, Service, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList), matched to what is visible on the page. |
| Answer engines and AI assistants (AEO, GEO) | Up to how you write the pages. | Answer-first copy, visible FAQ blocks, consistent business data and an llms.txt file, from launch. |
| Hosting and security | Included with the builder. | Cloudflare hosting, SSL, CDN, DDoS protection and unmetered bandwidth inside the monthly fee. |
| Maintenance burden | You edit and update your pages; GoDaddy runs the platform. | Ours. Updates, security and performance checks are part of the plan, not a task on your list. |
| Who does the work | You build from a template, or with GoDaddy's AI builder, Airo. | Our team builds it and makes every change: 5 revisions a month of any size, each within 2 to 5 working days. |
| Content and blog | A blog is available on the builder. Writing is up to you. | 2 researched articles a week on every plan, 3 on Block, written and published for you. |
| Design for an auction | Template-based. An auction catalog would be assembled from general sections. | Designed around the sale: catalog, lot, registration, settlement and results pages, built to your brand. |
| Accessibility and policy pages | Up to the template and your content. Policy pages are yours to add. | Built for keyboard and screen reader use, launched with privacy, terms, cookie and accessibility pages. |
| Cost model | A free Websites + Marketing plan and paid tiers for premium features. | $127 a month plus a $697 build fee invoiced after launch. No hosting, plugin or developer bills. |
| Lock-in and ownership | We did not find an official page on exporting a Websites + Marketing site. On paid Airo AI Builder plans GoDaddy says you can download your project. | Month to month, 2 business days notice to cancel. Your domain is registered in your name and transferred free if you leave. |
Honestly
When GoDaddy Website Builder is the better fit
You need a basic page with your phone number, next sale date and a link to your bidding platform, today, at little or no cost.

When a managed auction site wins
You list lots weekly and need filters, countdowns and lot pages that do not have to be rebuilt by hand.
You want the site to rank for your sale types and areas, with schema and articles handled for you.
You want a person to make changes within days, not another tool to learn.
What you get for $127 a month: the catalog, lot, registration, settlement and results pages, 90+ PageSpeed, hosting, your domain, 5 revisions a month and researched articles every week. The $697 build fee is invoiced only after launch.
Switching or combining
Keeping your GoDaddy domain and email
Plenty of auction companies keep their domain and email at GoDaddy. We point the domain at the new site and leave your mail records alone, so email keeps working through the move. If you would rather move the domain, we register it in your name through Cloudflare Registrar or Spaceship, included while your plan is active.
- Step 1
Keep your GoDaddy domain and email as they are, or tell us you want the domain moved.
- Step 2
We build the auction site and map every current page to its new address.
- Step 3
We update the domain's website records only, leaving email untouched.
- Step 4
The redirects and the new site go live together.

Most of our visitors are on phones, so that is where I reviewed the new auction consignments pages. The important details sit near the top and the inquiry button is impossible to miss. The days of talking customers through the menu are over.

- An SEO tool is included in most Websites + Marketing plans, and GoDaddy notes ranking changes can take weeks. (GoDaddy Help, "Improve my website's SEO")

Questions about GoDaddy Website Builder for auction companies
Is GoDaddy Website Builder enough for an auction company?
For a simple presence, yes: your company details, the next sale and a link to your bidding platform. For weekly catalogs, lot pages, registration, settlement and a results archive, the page work grows quickly, and on a builder it is yours.
Which GoDaddy builder am I using?
GoDaddy has several: Websites + Marketing, the Airo AI Builder and Airo for WordPress, and it lists its older AI Website Builder as discontinued on July 31, 2026. GoDaddy's help center has a page that tells you which one your site is on.
Can I keep my domain at GoDaddy?
Yes. We point it at the new site and leave your email records untouched. You can also move it so it is registered in your name through us, included while your plan is active.
Will my email stop working if I move my website?
It should not. Moving a website changes the domain's website records, not its mail records, and we leave mail settings alone during the switch.
Is GoDaddy cheaper?
Its free and entry plans cost less than ours. Ours start at $127 a month plus a $697 build fee after launch, and include the building, weekly updates, revisions, hosting and articles that a builder leaves to you.
Does GoDaddy help with SEO?
Most Websites + Marketing plans include an SEO tool, and GoDaddy itself notes that ranking changes take time. A page per sale type and area, schema and regular articles are the parts we add and maintain.
Can your site go live faster than I can build on GoDaddy?
A basic GoDaddy page can be up in an afternoon. A full auction site with us takes 7 to 15 days depending on the plan, counted from the onboarding call, and you do not build any of it.
What happens to my old GoDaddy pages?
Every old URL is mapped to its new page with a 301 redirect at launch, so links and search results keep working.
